The Deputy Chief Executive, Partnerships & Prevention is responsible for providing leadership and direction on partnerships within the Health Sector, the wider Business communities, levy payers and within Injury Prevention. It leads the delivery of ACC’s Health Sector, Strategic Commissioning and Injury Prevention strategies and ensures a strong and cohesive focus on value based health outcomes. At the same time, it maintains financial sustainability of the scheme and supports equitable collection from levy payers through the strategic design and implementation of collection channels, levies and incentives, to increase the trust and confidence of New Zealanders.​

Takes Executive leadership responsibilities for:

Supporting the Chief Executive in the review and implementation of ACC’s strategic plan by ensuring the Group’s strategic roadmap, business priorities, programmes of delivery and initiatives are aligned. ​

• Demonstrating behaviours that champion a culture of shared accountability for the achievement of organisational objectives to improve customer outcomes through strong partnerships between service delivery and enabling functions.
• Providing strategic direction and oversight to the Group to develop and deliver coordinated strategies, business planning processes, frameworks, and capabilities for the organisation, with the expertise and involvement of other Groups as required. ​
• Ensuring a highly effective leadership cohort within the Group to deliver high performance and employee engagement, and connection to our purpose. ​
• Ensures ACC is well positioned to respond to external trends and changes to continue to meet customer, community, and government expectations of the Scheme.
• Owning and managing business risks, implementing corrective actions to address process and control deficiencies, and driving a risk-aware culture. ​
• Understanding ACC’s legal responsibilities, and how to operationalise these responsibilities and manage legal risk, in the context of the Executive team collectively and as part of each Executive team member's individual functional responsibilities. ​
• Demonstrating proven performance across the Group in the application of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and ACC’s Whāia Te Tika strategy for system and process design to improve access and deliver improved health outcomes for Māori.
• Developing a culture of health and safety, by leading and role-modelling health and safety practice and actively supporting employees returning to work following an injury or illness.

Partnerships & Prevention

• Develops and leads strategies that shape ACC’s role in the health sector delivering the objectives of the Health Sector Strategy and championing a value based healthcare model.
• Leads strategic engagement with the health sector, demonstrating clinical credibility and developing strong partnerships which will improve provider trust and confidence in ACC and lead to better value client health outcomes.
• Leads the development and implementation of a strategic commissioning model that is outcome focused and better manages healthcare procurement costs.
• Oversees the ongoing management of circa $3 billion of provider contracts to ensure transparency and timely management of outcomes, performance and quality of service alongside achievement of cost optimisation.
• Leads a focus on Māori health outcomes and drives service delivery and implementation initiatives to improve access and deliver improved health outcomes for Māori.
• Provides leadership and oversight to the Business Partnerships function, using a ‘whole of ACC lens’ to deliver effective and efficient products and services to business customers.
• Leads ACC’s Injury Prevention Strategy, including a specific focus on Māori injury prevention, to reduce the incidence and severity of accidents and injuries across New Zealand and ensure ACC is delivering maximum benefit to New Zealanders and the Scheme.
• Ensures the appropriate advisory of ACC’s Executive, the ACC Board, Ministers and Select Committee on injury prevention investment portfolio performance.
• Oversees the business unit on their design, implementation and oversight of collection channels, levies and incentives required to support equitable collection from levy payers.

1. 1.Senior executive leadership experience in a key role within a large, complex health or related organisation, and significant experience in managing large scale service delivery teams.
2. 2.Significant experience in leading the delivery and implementation of complex health sector strategies with the ability to demonstrate tangible results of improved health outcomes or successful prevention rates.
3. 3.Demonstrated skills in building strong strategic partnerships with key stakeholders across the sector, gathering insights, and proactively identifying risks and opportunities for the organisation, translating them into specific objectives and strategic priorities.
4. 4.Demonstrated system thinking and innovation capability and an ability to translate these concepts into measurable outcomes.
5. 5.Analytical mindset and an ability to synthesise and glean actionable insights from complex data sets
6. 6.Excellent self management, judgment and prioritisation skills and an ability glean what really matters from a situation
7. 7.Curiosity and a drive to continuously improve in order to achieve improved client and Scheme outcomes
8. 8.Proven experience in building collaborative relationships with executive colleagues, to support the delivery of enterprise and system wide initiatives.
9. 9.Sound understanding and demonstrated leadership of the application of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
