Our Purpose

Healthy people, amazing care.
Koorda moort, moorditj kwabadak.

Healthy people refers to the commitment we have as an organisation to ensure our staff, patients and the wider community have access to comprehensive healthcare services, in order to maintain healthy lives.

Amazing care reflects the sentiment of those consumers accessing our healthcare services from feedback provided to us. This common statement resonates with the health service and reflects our intentions in our practice and work every day.

As a health service which celebrates diversity of culture and languages, it is also important that our vision is shared in the Noongar language.

Our Values

Our Values reflect the qualities that we demonstrate to each other and our community every day. Our staff make a difference every day to the patients, families and consumers they provide care, advice and support to. The EMHS values capture the shared responsibility that we uphold as most important, which are:

  • Kindness – kindness is represented in the support that we give to one another. This is how we demonstrate genuine care and compassion to each and every person.
  • Excellence – excellence is the result of always striving to do better. This is represented by constant improvements to the way in which we deliver our services, which results in a high performing health service.
  • Respect – we demonstrate respect through our actions and behaviours. By showing each other respect, in turn we earn respect.
  • Integrity – integrity is doing the right thing, knowing it is what we do when people aren’t looking that is a true reflection of who we are.
  • Collaboration – collaboration represents working together in partnership to achieve sustainable health care outcomes for our community with a shared understanding of our priorities.
  • Accountability – together we have a shared responsibility for ensuring the best health care outcomes for our community. This is a reminder that it is not only our actions, but also the actions we do not do, for which we are accountable.

Role Specification

Living and Working in Perth

Perth sits at the heart of Greater Perth, home to around 2.6 million people—over three-quarters of Western Australia’s population. With continued growth expected, the city is projected to reach nearly 3 million residents by the early 2030s and around 3.5 million by 2050, cementing its place as one of Australia’s major capital cities.

A City of Opportunity and Lifestyle

As Australia’s sunniest capital, Perth offers an unbeatable combination of career opportunities and laid-back living. With around 3,000 hours of sunshine each year, it’s easy to embrace an outdoor lifestyle while still enjoying all the benefits of a modern, thriving city.

Perth’s cultural scene is growing rapidly, with a dynamic mix of small bars, live music venues, art galleries, and street art precincts. The city is known for its creative dining experiences, from casual eateries to award-winning restaurants showcasing fresh local produce and world-class Western Australian wines.

Neighbourhoods like Northbridge, Fremantle and Mount Lawley are buzzing with nightlife, cafés, and events, making it easy to meet people and build a social network.

Getting Around and Staying Connected

Perth is one of the most accessible cities in Australia. The airport is located just 20 minutes from the CBD, with regular domestic and international flights connecting Perth to major cities and regional hubs.

Public transport is reliable and straightforward, with trains, buses, and ferries linking the city to outer suburbs and coastal areas. Many locals also choose to drive, with relatively easy traffic compared to larger cities like Sydney and Melbourne.

Urban Energy Meets Natural Beauty

Perth is a city where urban life and nature blend seamlessly. Within minutes, you can swap the office for ocean views or leafy parklands. The city boasts 19 stunning beaches—from the iconic white sands of Cottesloe to the surf-friendly waves of Scarborough—all within easy reach of the CBD.

Set along the Swan River, Perth’s natural beauty is one of its defining features. Kings Park and Botanic Garden, one of the world’s largest inner-city parks, offers more than 400 hectares of bushland, walking trails, and panoramic views over the skyline. It’s the perfect place to relax, explore Indigenous culture, or take in vibrant wildflowers during spring.
