Caboolture, Kilcoy and Woodford Directorate

The Caboolture, Kilcoy and Woodford Directorate provides health services across one of Queensland’s fastest‑growing regions, delivering care through Caboolture Hospital, Kilcoy Hospital and the Woodford Correctional Health Service.

Caboolture Hospital is a major facility within Metro North Health, serving the Caboolture and Moreton Bay communities. With more than 2,400 staff, it provides a broad range of medical, surgical, emergency, maternity, paediatric, mental health and allied health services. Recent redevelopment has expanded capacity, including a significantly larger emergency department and enhanced paediatric services. Caboolture Hospital also works closely with Kilcoy Hospital and local satellite health centres to support coordinated care across the region.

Kilcoy Hospital, established in 1912, delivers general medicine, emergency care, allied health and maternity outpatients for the local community. The 21‑bed facility has undergone substantial refurbishment, introducing new services, visiting specialists and expanded access through Telehealth. The hospital continues to strengthen local care options, including palliative care and the region’s first public adult dental service.

The Woodford Correctional Health Service delivers primary health care to people in custody at the Woodford Correctional Centre. The service provides person‑centred care across chronic disease management, mental health, addiction services, sexual health, immunisation, medication management, pathology and more. It is staffed around the clock and works closely with Queensland Correctional Services, Caboolture Hospital and other Metro North facilities to ensure timely, coordinated care and safe emergency responses.

Together, these three services form a diverse and complex directorate responding to growing demand, varied community needs and a broad clinical profile across hospital and custodial settings.

Role Specification

LIVING AND WORKING IN CABOOLTURE

The Caboolture, Kilcoy and Woodford region offers a balanced lifestyle for senior professionals, combining the convenience of a major urban centre with the appeal of rural and hinterland communities.

Caboolture serves as the primary hub and is located about 44 kilometres north of Brisbane, with strong transport connections through rail and the Bruce Highway that make it easy to move between regional and metropolitan settings. The town provides an extensive range of services including galleries, museums, shopping precincts, sporting centres and regular community events that create a strong sense of place. Attractions such as the Caboolture Historical Village are well known in the region and reflect the area’s heritage and community spirit. Families relocating to the region have many educational options available, including early learning centres, state and Catholic schools, independent colleges, TAFE Queensland and university study hubs within the broader Moreton Bay area.

Moreton Bay

Kilcoy provides a quieter rural setting with rolling hills and scenic landscapes that appeal to those who prefer a slower pace while staying connected to larger centres. The town is recognised for its natural beauty, its network of parks and trails and for community attractions such as Yowie Park which is popular with both residents and visitors. Woodford and the surrounding areas contribute their own character through forested landscapes, hinterland walking routes and the historic Wamuran to Woodford rail corridor, which is now used by walkers exploring parts of the Glasshouse Mountains National Park.

The wider region is also known for hosting well attended local events and festivals throughout the year that strengthen community connection.

Glasshouse Mountains National Park

For candidates relocating from other states or overseas, the region offers an accessible and welcoming environment with a range of housing options, access to both Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast, and a choice of living environments from the more urban feel of Caboolture to the rural and hinterland character of Kilcoy and Woodford. The combination of strong community networks, natural surroundings, education options and growing regional amenities creates an appealing setting for establishing a home, supporting a family and leading a long term career in South East Queensland.
