THE OPPORTUNITY

Monash Health is Victoria’s largest and most comprehensive health service, providing safe, high‑quality care across more than 40 locations to a rapidly growing and diverse population. Within its Medicine, Aged, Community and Mental Health Division, the Operations Director / Director of Nursing – Kingston and Aged Care Services is a pivotal leadership role, accountable for delivering exceptional care and advancing service models across subacute rehabilitation, residential aged care, and community-based programs. Recruitment for this role forms part of a recent broader organisational restructure at Monash Health, incorporating a more contemporary and future-fit leadership structure across all Divisions. THE ROLE

Reporting operationally to the Divisional Director and professionally to the Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer, the Operations Director / Director of Nursing provides strategic and operational leadership for the Kingston Site Program and Aged Care Services. The role carries responsibility for ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and person‑centred care across a diverse portfolio, including rehabilitation, residential facilities, home care, and transitional care programs. In addition, the position is accountable for workforce leadership, financial performance, compliance with the Aged Care Quality and Safety Standards, National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) requirements, and maintaining a culture of continuous improvement.

THE CANDIDATE

You are an experienced senior nursing leader with a proven record of success in managing complex, multi‑disciplinary teams and driving service transformation. With current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse, you bring strong operational, financial, and governance capability, coupled with a commitment to cultural and clinical excellence. You hold or are working towards postgraduate qualifications in management, health administration, or leadership and meet the requirements for Key Personnel status under the Aged Care and NDIS commissions.

Information specific to the Kingston and Aged Care Services portfolio

The Operations Director / Director of Nursing (DON) - Kingston and Aged Care Services will be accountable for leading and managing the operations of the Kingston Site Program and Aged Care Services (ACS) Program.

The specific accountabilities will include the delivery of agreed service profiles, financial performance within budget and ensuring the highest levels of quality and safety. The delivery of these will be supported by managing risk, patient safety and clinical governance within the Program and ensuring that effective systems are in place to support a high standard of practice.

This role will be integral in setting the behavioural framework and culture of the site and will be responsible for the effective management of employees and their development, supporting clinicians to identify opportunities for new services and changes in the way we provide services.

The ACS portfolio provides comprehensive and personalised care to older individuals. Our ACS services encompass home care packages, community care, and residential care, all designed to support the independence and well-being of our clients.
