THE ROLE
As an experienced clinical (nursing) professional, the Director of Clinical Services at the Friendly Society Private Hospital will play a crucial role in driving clinical excellence and innovation. Reporting directly to the CEO, you’ll lead a dynamic team of Clinical Managers, collaborating closely with the Director of Medical Services to ensure high-quality patient care and compliance with national standards.
You’ll oversee all clinical operations, focusing on improving clinical quality, patient flow, workforce development, and service delivery.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate:

Role Purpose Statement
The Director of Clinical Services at Friendly Society Private Hospital is responsible for leading the hospital’s clinical operations to ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care. Reporting directly to the CEO, the role involves driving clinical excellence, strategic workforce development, and compliance with healthcare regulations. The Director will foster collaboration between clinical teams and medical professionals, manage resources effectively, and implement innovative care strategies to improve patient outcomes. The Director will also be responsible for strategic fiscal oversight and will be required to manage departmental budgets, optimising resource allocation, and ensure clinical services operate within financial targets.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve, but are not limited to:
- Planning and maintaining hospital and departmental budgets, ensuring budgetary requirements are met in consultation with other executive team members.
- Assessing workplace culture and implementing actions to support findings, ensuring a positive workplace culture is maintained.
- Leading and managing practical aspects of care delivery, including bed management, patient flow strategies, patient demand forecasting, and workforce management.
- Ensuring systematic workforce planning and a commitment to the professional development of the clinical workforce.
- Supporting growth, business development, and responding to business needs identified by the Executive team.
- Liaising with the visiting medical officer (VMO) community, engaging to ensure the highest quality clinical care.
- Managing Human Resources to ensure future workforce requirements are known and strategies are identified and implemented.

- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
- Post-graduate clinical / management qualifications.
- 1.Leadership and Change Management Expertise
Demonstrated ability to lead and manage high-performance clinical teams through organisational change, fostering a positive workplace culture and engaging key stakeholders, including Clinical Managers, Medical Officers, and Executive team members. - 2.Clinical Governance and Compliance
Proven experience in maintaining high standards of clinical governance, patient safety, and compliance with national health standards, particularly within the private health sector. - 3.Strategic Workforce Planning and Development
Strong capability in workforce planning, professional development of clinical staff, and implementing strategies to ensure the hospital's future workforce needs are met. - 4.Resource and Financial Management
Demonstrated proficiency in planning and managing hospital and departmental budgets, ensuring efficient operations, and aligning resource management with quality business outcomes. - 5.Business Development and Innovation in Healthcare Delivery
Experience in driving clinical excellence and business growth by developing and implementing innovative service delivery strategies that respond to evolving healthcare demands and improve patient care outcomes
- Total Remuneration Package $202,000 (inclusive of super)
- Entitlements - 5 weeks Annual Leave.
