THE OPPORTUNITY
Care 24-7 is a privately owned leading health care organisation that partners with private hospitals to provide excellent Emergency Department (ED) medical care to people at their time of need, making a difference to the community serving one patient, one family at a time. Currently operating at Calvary Adelaide Hospital in South Australia and Buderim Private Hospital on the sunshine coast, Care 24-7 provide specialist emergency services to adults and children 24 hrs, 7 days a week, all year round.

THE ROLE
Care 24/7 is seeking a new medical director for the Calvary Adelaide Hospital site. A key medical leadership role within the Care 24-7 group, this position is responsible for leading and managing the provision of acute care within the Calvary Adelaide emergency department. The role also has as key partnership role with the Calvary executive and senior management team both clinical and non-clinical.
As the successful candidate you will be a FACEM emergency medicine specialist. You will bring strong leadership and business management experience to the role and will possess a strong understanding of the delivery and ongoing development of emergency medicine. You will demonstrate a patient centred approach with a focus on safety, operating efficiencies and continuous quality improvement. You will be adept and building and maintaining collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders both internally and externally. You will have a firm commitment to ongoing training and development both for yourselves and for the teams you support.

We are privately owned, not government funded, and provide specialist emergency services to adults and children 24 hrs, 7 days a week, including public holidays.
We currently operate:
- Calvary Lenah Valley Emergency Department (Hobart, Tasmania), from August 2024
- Calvary Adelaide Hospital Emergency Department (Adelaide, South Australia), since 2020
- Buderim Private Hospital Emergency Centre (Sunshine Coast, Queensland), since 2018

Role Specification
The medical director is responsible for:
- Leading and managing the provision of emergency medicine services (50%)
- Supporting continual improvement of emergency medicine services (20%)
- Human Resource Management (20%)
- Practice Policies/ Standards and Systems (10%)
- Must be prepared to attend relevant meetings and staff development / education activities as required.
- Some out of hours and weekend work may be required

The incumbent must be an emergency medicine specialist with significant leadership experience.
The Medical Director will demonstrate skill and knowledge in the following criteria:
- 1.Strong relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills.
- 2.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, a focus on organisation, and enhanced multitasking abilities.
- 3.Ability to think strategically, understand complex issues, work with multiple demands, work well under pressure, work with initiative, flexibility and creativity, and work as a member of a team.
- 4.Ability to use time, task and people management skills to optimise the organisation and efficiency of the ED in alignment with the Care 24-7 business strategy and Calvary Adelaide Hospital strategy.
- 5.Ability to effectively liaise with core stakeholders including doctors, staff, suppliers and patients.
