THE OPPORTUNITY
Nepean Hospital is now looking for a new General Manager who will be responsible for leading the financial and operational management of resources and services of Nepean Hospital. The role leads the facility to provide a high-quality clinical service and high level of performance to support the LHD in achieving all service level agreement requirements with a highly professional, responsive and accountable customer service culture.

Role Specification
The General Manager Nepean Hospital will be responsible for leading the financial and operational management of resources and services of Nepean Hospital. The role leads the facility to provide a high- quality clinical service and high level of performance to support the LHD in achieving all service level agreement requirements with a highly professional, responsive and accountable customer service culture.
The role will lead the hospital executive team and works closely with the community, other health and community care providers, NBMLHD staff, educational institutions and government agencies to develop and implement services, systems and programs which improve the health and wellbeing of the community.
Essential Requirements
- Extensive proven experience at a senior management level in a substantial and complex organisation engaged in clinical service delivery
- Demonstrated application of knowledge and expertise in health service delivery across a diverse range of care sectors, advocating for positive change in a broad range of community and government forums
Applicants will need to demonstrate their proficiency in the capabilities outlined in the Role Description.
- Leads and directs clinical service delivery, determining operational priorities and setting service delivery goals, standards and performance measures to ensure expectations are clear and that service delivery strategies meet NBMLHD objectives.
- Ensure Nepean Hospital achieves agreed performance targets contained within the NBMLHD Service Agreement with NSW Health, whilst maintaining expenditure within the budgeted allocation provided.
- Manage people, physical and financial resources in an operationally effective and efficient manner to deliver excellent service and care outcomes for patients, carers and the community.
- Contribute to strategic and business planning processes with NBMLHD to ensure that plans are informed by high quality service strategy advice and a focus on the health care needs of the community.
- Support Nepean Hospital to achieve the full integration of safety management systems and maintain an effective program of clinical quality and safety for the delivery of clinical services.
- Seek and support opportunities for improvement and innovation.
- Facilitate and deliver an organisational culture and broader human resources approach which demonstrates commitment and Together Achieving Better Health by involving, supporting and working closely with staff to build and maintain workforce capability resulting in a positive workplace culture at Nepean Hospital.
- Develop and maintain strong internal and external relationships to exchange information with client groups, community, other government agencies and other stakeholders to inform strategic and operational decisions related to service provision.
Decision making
The General Manager Nepean Hospital reports to the Chief Executive and has significant autonomy in directing and managing the operations of Nepean Hospital and deploying resources within the operational budget in accordance with delegations.
In consultation with the Chief Executive the General Manager will determine operational priorities to deliver on NBMLHD’s strategic plans and requirements.

Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District (NBMLHD) provides health care to over 384,000 residents across Penrith, Hawkesbury, Blue Mountains and Lithgow local government areas.
With more than 7,500 staff, we are responsible for the health and wellbeing of people living in rural, remote, and suburban areas covering almost 9,179 km2.

Nepean Hospital
Nepean Hospital is at the base of the Blue Mountains in Kingswood, near Penrith, between the Great Western Highway, Somerset Street, Parker Street and Derby Street.
Nepean Hospital is the major facility for Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District. It is a teaching hospital of the University of Sydney and providing tertiary level care for patients throughout the NBMLHD district and beyond and secondary level care for patients predominantly of the Penrith Local Government Area. Nepean Hospital provides emergency, intensive care and neonatal intensive care, surgery, maternity and paediatric, aged care and rehabilitation services.
The hospital is currently in stage 2 of a major redevelopment, delivering significant upgrades and expanding both hospital and community-based services for the Penrith and Blue Mountains communities. Stage 1 was completed in 2022 following the opening of the Hospital's new 14-storey tower.
